If you’ve been to a tradeshow or conference lately, you’ve probably seen a huge dashboard or projection screen displaying an aggregation of everyone’s tweets, Instagram images, and Facebook postings about the event.
Usually the presenter will tell everyone to use a certain hashtag like #Event2013 with the hopes that everyone will post about their presentation. The dashboard is a super cool way to encourage people to participate. The incentive? People like seeing their name up on a big screen!
Such dashboards are really excellent ways to increase engagement around an event or campaign. Companies like GE have been doing this both internally and externally to promote thought leadership and social engagement within the company. GE uses a tool called FeedMagnet – which is excellent for business who want a ton of useful customizations, curation of messages, and a rich visual experience.
I recently set out to find a solution for those of us without a budget for such a great tool, but still want to create a visually interesting social hub – either on their website or as a dashboard at an event. That’s when I came across the super cool WordPress Social Stream plugin by Design Chemical. It’s inexpensive, customizable, and pretty simple to implement. I would encourage anyone with the need for a social hub to give it a try. And of course, we’re always happy to help.
Check out our social stream and let us know what you think! And be sure to follow us across the social web.
